MANILA – Less than a month after the country celebrated the 30th anniversary of the People Power Revolution, the People Power Monument along EDSA was defaced.
A photo taken by Bayan Patroller BJ David on Tuesday morning shows the monument vandalized with the phrase “MARCOS PA RIN!”
The graffiti has been scrubbed clean as of posting.
The incident occurred just as candidates in the national elections are in the thick of campaigning.
The monument was one of the venues for the 30th anniversary celebration of the virtually bloodless revolution. During the revolution’s commemoration, President Aquino lambasted vice-presidential candidate Sen. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for failing to apologize for the atrocities during the dictatorship of his father, Ferdinand Sr.

The younger Marcos has caught up with consistent frontrunner Sen. Francis Escudero in the vice-presidential pre-election surveys. Anti-Marcos activists said they would do everything to prevent Marcos from winning the second highest post in the land, which is a hearbeat away from the presidency.
