Wenn Deramas is dead. The box-office director died of heart attack early Monday morning, February 29, 2016, hours after his sister passed away. He was 49.
According to June Rufino, his friend, the director died at the emergency room of Capitol Medical Center around 6:20 a.m. after witnessing the death of his sister, Wawa Deramas, who succumbed to cardiac arrest 3 hours earlier
The director arrived at the hospital around 2 a.m. and was present when his sibling was revived. Wawa was pronounced dead on arrival, Rufino told DZMM in an interview.
Deramas almost had a heart attack in 2014 and had undergone an angioplasty last year. Rufino said the director’s death came as a surprise as he had fully recovered after the surgical procedure.
According to ABS-CBN News, Direk Wenn’s remains were brought to Arlington Memorial Chapels in Araneta Avenue on Monday.
The hit films of Deramas include the “Ang Tanging Ina” series, “Petrang Kabayo,” “Sisterakas,” “Moron 5 and the Crying Lady,” “The Unkabogable Praybeyt Benjamin,” “Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy,” “The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin” and the highest-grossing Filipino film of all time, “Beauty and the Bestie.”
